THE HUMAN HOURGLASS

SYNOPSIS

Italy, 1962. Based on a written testimony by Franco Basaglia, the short film recounts a long night inside a psychiatric hospital. An unequal quid pro quo between a nurse and a young inmate, in which the latter is forced to undergo inhuman practices, which he only survives thanks to his dedication.

The project of the short film La clessidra umana (The Human Hourglass) stems from the idea of a feature film entitled Ugo, which tells the story of an inmate who went through all the phases of the asylum reality, from 1948 to 2001.
